B.R.A.C.E. Fall 2025- For Walsh Intermediate School Students Only!
Branford Recreation Afterschool Creative Enrichment (B.R.A.C.E.) programs return for Walsh students this Fall season! Join our staff as we bring fun activities/programs to Walsh Intermediate School. Students will meet directly afterschool and will need to be picked up by 4PM or they may choose to take the late bus home. (You must sign up for late bus the morning of to be eligible to ride the late bus home)
Intro to Theatre: Instructor Chris Lemieux
Led by Chris Lemieux from Legacy Theatre, come and see what theater is all about through the exploration of engaging theater games and improvisation! Students will have the opportunity to develop characters and enhance their storytelling all while experiencing the thrill of self-expression and teamwork. This is a great program to gain confidence, learn public speaking, further acting training, and make new friends in a fun and relaxing way! Program will be held in the WIS Auditorium.
Flag Football Frenzy: Instructor Ricky and Vic from Parks & Rec
Offered to both boys and girls, sign up to play the classic game of flag football, with some added twists. Participants will be split into different teams each week, unforeseen rule changes/additions will pop up mid-game, and opportunities to double (and maybe even triple!) your team’s score will occur, turning the game into a frenzy! Scores, time, records, and even stats will be recorded every week for participants to track throughout the session. Open to all skill levels. Transportation will be provided from WIS to the Community House/Hammer Field for this program only! Students MUST take bus #617. School office staff will have names of the children who should be taking this bus each week. Each child must be picked up from program at the Community House/Hammer Field or parent may grant permission for their child (11 years or older) to sign him/herself out.
Arts & Creative Expression: Instructor Dave Dikranian
This program includes bracelet and jewelry making, painting, drawing, creative writing and many more creative avenues for students to explore. Children will have the opportunity to explore their creative talents and engage in their favorite artistic activities.
Fitness Training: Instructor Jill Temple (Personal Trainer)
Coach Jill Temple is back and is looking for you to "Do Your Best Training!" Currently the Division II Girls Lacrosse Coach at Southern Connecticut State University, get stronger for your sport or get in shape with this after school proper body weight exercise training. Participants will learn proper form through different exercises. If you signed up for her Summer Running & Conditioning program, make sure you join this After School workout session this Fall! Class is held in the WIS Fitness Room.
Wii Games: Instructor Ricky from Parks & Rec
Spend the afternoon with your friends gaming in a fun way. Join Ricky from Parks & Rec and prove if your Mii is the best Wii player! Play a variety of classic Wii games that includes Wii Sports (tennis, golf, bowling, and baseball), Wii Sports Resort (Air Gliding, Basketball, Sword Play, Disc Throwing, Table Tennis, and more), & the classic game, Super Mario Kart! If you really are looking for a competition, scores will be kept every week as ‘Mii players’ can climb the top of the Wii Sports leaderboard so players can prove their worth!
Classroom Games: Instructor Dave Dikranian
This program offers a variety of fun, age-appropriate classroom activities and games — including board games, card games, scavenger hunts, dancing, drawing, storytelling, trivia, and more! Kids will have the opportunity to participate both individually and in groups, building collaboration and teamwork along the way.
